Let me just point something out straight up – I often identify and get on better with blokes who eat everything under the sun than flexi/pesci types who pick and choose the species that deserve freedom and peace or eat that way because they heard red meat is bad for you (yes hello hi I’m a strict ethical vegan). So in this sense, I’ve realised that just because someone is veggie or vegan doesn’t mean you’ll have anything much in common with them at all.
So it ended up being a pretty fun 20 x three minute dates for the blokes, and, well, kind of a drag for the ladies. Let us know in the poll below what you think about speed dating.
My conclusion is, I wouldn’t write this type of thing off.
I do realise it’s better for the animals if someone is eating less of them, but I’m talking about a spiritual / moral connection here. I’ve only been speed dating once before, years ago, but generally (anecdotally), men tend to be older than women at speed dating events.
Tuesday night’s age bracket was 25-38 so, as a 25-year-old, this meant that the vast majority of blokes were too old for me.
Their dating expert Dani Waller says: ‘At Speed Dater we know how much the British public love food.
It seemed with the growing number of people giving up meat and dairy that a vegetarian/vegan event would be a popular one.
It costs less than £15 per person and it can be a laugh.
You may meet someone, and after the event you don’t have to talk to any weirdos.
Speed Dater now run around 70 events every month in 27 cities.
